Departure/Arrival - none, we stayed put
Day six was our first down day, no travel! We spent it with our friends Ingrid, Chris and baby Laurel on the Navajo Reservation in Fort Defiance, AZ. We first met Chris in Boulder when he and his then girlfriend lived above us in a crummy apartment off of east Pearl Street. As friends in Boulder, we'd go out on road and mountain rides, Chris was a full time student and part time produce slinger at the local Albertsons (thanks for the deals on red peppers and the like!). Now Chris is a doctor on the Rez at the Indian Hospital.
We did a little exploring of the area and really enjoyed just lounging around like teenagers.
Chris and Ingrid's government housing on the Rez...

A Mourning Cloak butterfly (Nymphalis antiopa)* that I caught for Celeste.
* thanks for the ID, Darren!
Living room furniture that Celeste made for the injured grasshoppers.
Stray dogs that hang around the supermarket. There were about six total.
Think this guy could get elected in the South?
Window Rock
Not Window Rock, but another big formation across from it.

hlIn case Celeste cares, that's a lovely Mourning Cloak butterfly (Nymphalis antiopa).
