Taiwan VI - protective plastic coverings

The Taiwanese seem to love the protective film or plastic bags installed on consumer goods at the factories. These are placed on the item to prevent shipping damage and are generally removed by the end user. However, Taiwanese seem to hold on to these with a sense of pride.

My guess is that many of these items end up with the protective plastic still in place when they hit the landfill.

Some examples:

scooter seat, patched with packing tape

black plastic axle cap (designed to prevent axle from puncturing shipping carton)

aging computer monitor at a factory

conference room chair

car door handle

car seatbelt buckle (same car as door handle above)
