Ooh, I found another one that I hadn't yet photographed:

Whenever you see it, you get happy.

At least it makes sense.

Taiwan: Scooter Poetry III

Having spent hours walking the streets of both Taichung and Taipei over several previous visits to the tropical/industrial paradise of Formosa, I was quite certain that I had captured every brilliant piece of scooter poetry.

Here's one that had yet to be captured by my camera, seen in Taichung:
We reach for the sky
Neither does civilization

Taiwan: Scooter Poetry II

Upon returning from Taiwan last March, I posted some of the great Taiwanese scooter "poetry" on the blog.

I'm happy to add a few more to the collection. Here goes:
"Flying Angel of Elegant, Nimble and Beautiful."
"Diamond Team High Quality By Dock"
"SUPER COMPUTER ACCESS
POWERED BY BLITZ"

"Welcome To The Cabin Z Scooter
It's A Scooter With European Styling
And Dynamic Movements
RACING TEAM"

"YOU CAN TRY!...GOING!...BLAZE IT UP!
THE CUSTOM MADE OF GOING."

"This is a new concept for creative your life"
"THE SCOOTER OF WIND CALLED"
"SET ME FREE, LET ME ALONE"
THE MODERN SCOOTER, CITIZEN
fancy jog
my fancy free

Apparently one scooter maker had a series of dog-themed scooters.
"THE
DOG
Chihuahua"

"TNE DOC
Artlist Collection"

And while this is not a factory-applied sticker like those above, I find it amusing that the owner has a thing against unleaded fuel:
No self-respecting US tradesman would show up at a job site with anything less than an F-650 Super-Duty® dually 4x4 with a 12.5 liter turbo diesel, but here they manage to get by on two (or sometimes three) wheels:
loading a floor buffer
nice rack!

And just in case you forgot what you're riding is called:

Taiwan T-Shirts

When I visited Taichung's Night Market last year, I was practically in tears after reading the copy on many of the t-shirts that were for sale. Partly because of the friend I was with, partly because of being slap-happy, but mainly because of the nonsensical gibberish that had been screened. Or maybe it was the Taiwan Beer.

During my weekend journey around Taipei I came across a few gems on shirts and other apparel. I've said it before, but it bears repeating. Their English is far better than my Chinese will ever be. I also wonder how many Westerners are walking around with Chinese character tattoos that say "screwdriver" or "jellyfish" instead of the intended "peace" or "inner strength".

About half of these were found at street vendors, the other half at the New York, New York department store, located across the street from Taipei 101.

Taiwan: Scooter Poetry

Just back from a ten day stint on the island of Formosa. As I had mentioned in a previous post from my last visit, "product poetry" is pretty commonplace in Taiwan. Especially on scooters that are over ten years old or so.

Here are some of my favorites:

"The best function
and good sensation"

"Good partner in your life"
(like a dog?)

"With fashionable feeling"

"Move your creative heart!"

"Is fascinating to you"

"That was then.........the future is now !"

"Shuttle in the city jengle. The new, speedy snail clan"

"For your nice scene"

"Get away from it all. Get away with it all"
(question to scooter maker - which one?)

"Happy be away from home then safe and sound go home"

"A new concept for create your life"

"The friendly scooter on Earth"
And my personal favorite:
"The glaring headlights of a motorcar"
(are the last things you'll see when riding this?)

And found on a motorcycle tank:
"toywork only
DRAGON IN HEART
KEEP
AWAY
[I AM BAD ]"

I also saw a few dogs going for scooter rides. They seem to do a great job hanging on:
More Taiwan fun to come...
