When I have a long flight, such as today where I'll be spending over 20 hours in a few different tin cans traveling to the tropical-industrial paradise of Taiwan, there are certain records that I dial up on the iPod with relative frequency.
All are great for tuning out the ambient noise and I am familiar enough with these records that I can easily lull myself to sleep on long-haul flights. There have been times where I'll listen to one of these looped five to six times in a row as I'm dozing at 38,000 feet.
Brian Eno - Music For Airports
Low - Long Division
Slowdive - Souvlaki
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
The Verve - Urban Hymns
I just can't imagine traveling without the luxury of an iPod and noise-canceling headphones.
BIG thanks to Graham for the business class upgrade on today's LAX-NRT leg!
